Congress on Monday ridiculed the reports about differences with its coalition partner National Conference over the creation of new administrative units across the state.

Talking to local news gathering agency KNS, Sham Lal Sharma, senior Congress leader and minister for PHE said there are no differences between Congress and NC over the issue and the Cabinet Sub Committee (CSC) on creation of new administrative units need time to go through the representations it has received on the subject.

“We also want people to benefit with creation of new administrative units but our worry is that we do not want any loopholes to remain there,” Sharma said adding that the CSC headed by senior Congress leader and deputy chief minister Tara Chand is scheduled to submit its report on February 1.

The minister for PHE informed that the CSC has received 752 representations seeking attention towards their demands on new administrative units from different places in the state sofar. “It is logical that the CSC needs some time to go through these representations and analyze the demands in their right perspective. Otherwise, if the committee submits its report in haste, that will be a half hearted exercise which will benefit no one,” Sharma said.

He said that Congress party favors creation of new administrative units but wants to work out the whole exercise with a bit of caution. “It is not an issue which can be addressed in haste but the Committee will have to take all the angles into consideration before preparing its report,” Sharma said.
