For the first since July 09, 2016, markets opened in South Kashmir’s Islamabad district Tuesday evening.
Similarly, in summer capital Srinagar, markets in and around Lal Chowk, opened this evening.
In Islamabad, it was first time in last 53 days that markets have opened given the mass uprising Kashmir is witnessing since the killing of popular militant commander Burhan Wani.
Correspondent reports said that markets opened in main Islamabad market while there is improvement in vehicular movement.
“It is first time life is back in the markets,” a resident of Lal Chowk Islamabad said.
Notably, the resistance leadership has been issuing protest calendars since the killing of Burhan and people were asked to follow it. Although, business establishments in Srinagar “followed” it for some time, no such development was witnessed in South Kashmir region “due to siege”.
Reports from Shopian said that no markets opened this evening. “It is complete lockdown,” correspondent reports said. Similar reports were received from Sopore.
Meanwhile, all shops and business establishments opened at 6 pm on Tuesday on the call of the resistance leadership in Srinagar.
According to the calendar issued by Hurriyat Conference leadership, there was relaxation in shutdown from 6 PM to 6 AM.
At sharp 6pm, the shops and other business establishments pulled up their shutters in Lal Chowk and other parts of civil lines areas resulting in rush in the area.
The valley Kashmir observed complete shutdown today for the straight 53rd day.
