As part of Sadhbhavana initiative by Army and as an “endeavour to ameliorate” the unemployed youth through Youth Development Module by Tata Motors Limited, 28 candidates of Jammu & Kashmir region were flagged in at Udhampur by Lt Gen G S Dhillon COS, Northern Command on 09 Sep 2016, Srinagar based defence spokesperson said in a statement issued on Saturday evening.
“Subsequently, on 10 Sep 2016, 16 candidates of Kashmir region were flagged in by Lt Gen Satish Dua, GOC, Chinar Corps at BB Cantt after completion of 03 months Technician course in Automobile stream through latest techniques, tools and equipment at Tata Motors Limited, Ropar, Punjab,” the statement said.
Speaking on the occasion, Lt Gen Satish Dua GOC Chinar Corps lauded the efforts of Tata Motors for the initiative and the candidates for their dedication and hard work to complete the training successfully, amidst unrest in Kashmir, the statement added.
“The aim of this employment drive is to ensure that the youth of the state gets an opportunity to enhance their vocational skills, set benchmark for others to emulate and to channelize youth’s energy in a constructive direction,” Dua said.
“The officials of Tata Motors Ltd mentioned that the motive of this collaboration with Army is to create quality standards in skill development industry and assist in increasing employment opportunities for the youth keeping in mind the present situation of the Kashmir valley. The course completion certificates have been handed over to the candidates by Tata Motors representative at Tata Motors Ltd, Ropar (Punjab) on 07 Sep 2016. Job appointment letters were also issued to the candidates by GOC Chinar Corps on 10 Sep 2016,” the spokesperson informed. “All candidates expressed their deep gratitude to the Army and Tata Motors Limited for giving them the opportunity for growth and self-development.”
