DGP J&K chairs security review meeting ahead of Amarnath Yatra

   

SRINAGAR: Director General of Police (DGP) Nalin Prabhat on Friday chaired a high-level security review meeting at the Police Control Room (PCR) Kashmir to assess security and logistical preparations for the upcoming Shri Amarnathji Yatra.

The meeting was attended by senior officers of the Army, Central Armed Police Forces (CAPFs), intelligence agencies and the Jammu and Kashmir Police, including senior officials from the Jammu Zone.

Officials briefed the DGP on the prevailing security situation and the preparedness of various agencies responsible for ensuring the smooth and peaceful conduct of the annual pilgrimage. Security arrangements at key locations along the yatra routes also came under review.

During the meeting, Prabhat stressed the need for seamless coordination among the Army, CAPFs, intelligence agencies, the civil administration and the J&K Police to maintain a strong security grid throughout the pilgrimage.

He directed officers to strengthen area domination, intensify anti-sabotage operations, enforce strict access control at vulnerable locations and maximise the use of technology for surveillance. The DGP also called for enhanced police visibility, robust quick response mechanisms and uninterrupted communication among security personnel deployed along the yatra routes.

Reviewing traffic management and convoy regulation, Prabhat instructed officials to ensure smooth movement of vehicles while minimising inconvenience to pilgrims and the general public. He emphasised strict adherence to Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), effective supervision of deployments and real-time monitoring of security arrangements.

The DGP also underscored the importance of close coordination with the civil administration, health services, disaster response agencies and other stakeholders to facilitate hassle-free arrangements for devotees.

Reiterating that the safety and security of pilgrims remain the top priority, Prabhat urged all security agencies to remain vigilant and fully prepared to deal with any eventuality, with the aim of ensuring a peaceful and incident-free Shri Amarnathji Yatra.
