SRINAGAR: Stepping up efforts to strengthen the anti-drug campaign in Kashmir, Divisional Commissioner Kashmir Anshul Garg on Wednesday held a meeting with religious leaders from different faiths, seeking wider community participation in the fight against narcotics abuse.
The meeting, attended by Imams, members of the Shia community, representatives of the Gurudwara Prabandhak Committee and the migrant Hindu community, focused on mobilising social and religious institutions under the ongoing Nasha Mukt JK Abhiyan.
Highlighting the growing threat posed by drug abuse, Garg said religious leaders have a vital role in generating awareness and influencing communities through sermons, outreach and social engagement. He lauded their contribution to the anti-narcotics campaign and urged them to intensify efforts to build a drug-free society.
The Divisional Commissioner also invited religious leaders from all sects and faiths to participate in large numbers in the Nasha Mukt JK Padyatra scheduled for May 3, describing it as a collective public movement against substance abuse.
Participants shared suggestions during the meeting and assured full cooperation and active participation in the padyatra, reaffirming support for the campaign against narcotics.
