Divisional Commissioner Kashmir, Pandurang K. Pole on Thursday visited red zone areas and wellness centres of Anantnag to take stock of the facilities put in place. District Magistrate, Anantnag, Bashir Ahmad Dar, SSP Anantnag, ADDC, ADC, ACR, CMO, Dy. Director, Directorate of Health Services Kashmir and Dr Waseem Qurashi, Nodal Officer, Hospital isolation, Kashmir Division accompanied the Divisional Commissioner.
The Div. Com. Visited Wellness Centres at Trauma Hospital Bijbehara and High Ground Anantnag, where he was briefed about the facilities put in place. He also visited Red Zone area Kadipora and directed the district administration to ensure availability of all the essential services to the inhabitants of the area at their doorsteps, adding that complete lockdown must be imposed and no inward or outward movement of the public should be allowed to avert any further COVID – 19 infections in the district.
The Div Com. also took a detailed review of the arrangements put in place by the District Administration to stem any further spread of COVID – 19 infections at a meeting of concerned officer, at DC Office Anantnag. The DM Anantnag through a PowerPoint presentation briefed the Div Comm. about the arrangements put in place in view of the COVID – 19 in the district.
The Div. Com directed the district administration that in addition to COVID – 19 positive patients, ensure healthcare facilities and treatment to the patients with severe ailments also so that they do not suffer.
He asked for taking over a private Nursing Home along with manpower and logistics, for extending exclusive treatment for pregnant women reporting from red and buffer zones, besides for devising a birth plan for the pregnant women so that they could be screened for COVID – 19 well in time. He added that pregnant women from red zone areas must be treated separately and asked for using services of ASHAs for proper identification of pregnant women.
It was also decided that a District Committee of Agriculture, Horticulture, Animal Husbandry, Sheep Husbandry and Fisheries departments be the frame for taking up the measures for the sowing of seeds and transplantation of seedlings, for the areas declared as red zones. ‘The Committee shall devise a mechanism for ensuring transplantation of paddy seedlings so that fast approaching agriculture season is taken care of’, the Div Com. added
Taking cognizance of the death of a pregnant woman with twin babies at MCH Anantnag, few days ago, the Div Comm. warned of stern action for such negligence in future. He directed CMO, Anantnag and GMC, Principal to ensure a robust healthcare system in the district and ensure that no complaints are received in future. He directed for ensuring attendance of all doctors and paramedical staff in the health institutions of the district round the clock.
The Div Com. also directed the district administration to ensure separate control rooms for red zones for grievance redressal besides, not to quarantine the members of a single-family, in a single floor, of a building to stop any further infection. He also asked for using the services of NGOs, Red Cross, NSS and other volunteers to create awareness regarding the deadly disease.
Later, while briefing the media, the Div Comm. said that overall situation is under control in the valley and people should not heed rumors and fake news instead should play their role in making the lockdown successful. He added that all the basic facilities and essentials are being provided to the public at the doorsteps amid lockdown, adding that testing capacity is more than 1000 per day and is being increased to more than 1500 per day in coming days.
