SRINAGAR: Deputy Chief Minister Surinder Choudhary on Wednesday inaugurated multiple road and bridge projects worth Rs. 10.27 crore across Bhalwal in Jammu district, officials said, calling the developments a significant boost to local connectivity and livelihoods.
Accompanied by Chairman DDC Jammu, Bharat Bhushan, and MLA Nagrota, Devyani Rana, Choudhary inaugurated a 2.50-km road at New Bridge Julee Simbliwala and a 1.10-km stretch at Dharam Khoo connecting Phagwari, Kamyara, Magotra, and Mohalla Nallah Wallah in Lower Gharota. He also opened a 1.25-km link road from Bhera to Sobka via Mohalla Khajuria, and a 2.50-km road from Lift Irrigation Batera to Behra Panchayat Ghar in Lower Gharota, Bhalwal.
Later, the Deputy Chief Minister visited Lower Amb, Bhalwal, to inaugurate a 22-metre span double-lane through-type plate girder bridge over the Ranbir Canal, officials added.
Terming the projects crucial for “hassle-free connectivity,” Choudhary said the roads and bridge would enhance accessibility, upgrade livelihoods, and fulfil long-pending demands of the local population. He directed concerned departments to expedite ongoing development works in the area, reiterating the Government’s commitment to seamless connectivity for Jammu and Kashmir residents.
During the tour, public deputations met the Deputy Chief Minister, expressing gratitude for timely completion of projects and raising additional demands. Choudhary assured locals that all genuine issues would be addressed promptly.
Engineer-in-Chief R and B Rajesh Gupta, Executive Engineer R and B Division Nagrota Dardar Khan, and other senior officers accompanied the Deputy Chief Minister during the visit.
