Chief Education Officer (CEO) Kupwara, Abdul Hamid Fani said that the concerned authorities will cancel the admission of students found involved in any sort of drug-related activities.

“Since the admission process has been started for 9th, 10th, 11th and 12th standard students, the Head of the institutions of HS and HSS are directed to get an affidavit from the parents to the effect that ‘their ward is not involved in any drug-related activities,” the CEO said in a circular.

Earlier, in south Kashmir’s Anantnag district, the School Education Department decided to assign a vigilante role to some students to curb the drug menace in and around educational institutes.

The deputy commissioner of the district in the Narco Coordination Centre (NCORD) meeting had directed to devise a comprehensive list of tasks to be followed by each school.

The Chief Education Officer (CEO) of Anantnag accordingly impressed upon all the schools to adhere to the instructions given by the department.

” All Schools shall arrange special sessions and motivational lectures in morning Assembly once or twice a month thereby imparting awareness about ill effects of drugs and substance abuse,” the CEO had said. (KNO)
