Slamming chief minister Omar Abdullah over Kausar Nag remark, Hurriyat Conference (G) Chairman Syed Ali Geelani Friday maintained that opposition of the Kausar Nag is not ‘Ram-Rahim’ fight but the Yatra could trigger the ecological disaster if allowed.
Geelani also stated that he will participate in the meeting at Pakistan High Commission scheduled to be held on August 19 at New Delhi ahead of the foreign secretary level talks.
Talking to KNS, Geelani remarked that elections in no way can be result oriented as the same are being exploited at large by New Delhi and are being presented as the referendum from the people of Kashmir.
Reacting to the statement made by the chief minister Omar Abdullah during the Indian Independence Day speech at Bakshi Stadium here, Geelani maintained that the party which bartered the interests of the people of Jammu and Kashmir cannot issue the sermons to the people about elections. “Here they say elections in no way are connected to the Kashmir cause and in New Delhi-polls are portrayed synonymous to referendum. The fact remains that the people here have rejected the elections and the boycott was successful in the recent past,” said the Hurriyat patriarch.
He further maintained that the statement of Omar on Friday reflects that the lot is the power centric one with no care of the people. “They have no relation with the people here. They want power and that is their purpose of life.”
Over the issue of Kausar Nag, Geelani maintained that his amalgam is not opposing the Yatra at the venue on any religious ground but the ecological experts have already sounded alarm that the human intervention in the stream could lead to disaster. “I can tell you with honesty that the Kausar Nag issue is not the Ram-Rahim fight. It is the fight for environment and for the preservation of that place.”
Geelani also took a jibe at GOI stating that they want to communalise the issue by brushing the picture with the communal colour.
Geelani also said that he will leave for New Delhi on August 19 so that to participate in the meet with Pakistan High Commissioner Abdul Basit on the same day. He stated that ahead of the foreign secretary level talks between India and Pakistan, he will apprise the Pak establishment about the importance of Kashmir resolution at the present juncture.
He added that Kashmir must be the core issue during the Indo-Pak talks and no other issue could be resolved till the core issue is addressed.
