As the Governor’s rule was imposed in Jammu and Kashmir on January 9, after a stalemate over the government formation continued for 17 days, top BJP sources revealed that it would benefit the Saffron party to gain maximum ground during the Delhi polls.
Sources within the party told KNS that if coalition with the PDP would have been formed earlier, BJP had to compromise over its principle stand on Article 370 and other subtle issues.
Reports informed that the BJP that used the card of scrapping the special status of Jammu and Kashmir during the previous elections would be benefitted most by the imposition of Governor’s rule in JK as the party is yet to reveal its change in its stand that it took for fostering new bonds with the PDP in JK.
Sources said that the Saffron party was in favor of the imposition of governor’s rule in JK as it can in open now propagate its views during the Delhi elections. BJP is facing a stiff fight in New Delhi against Aam Admi Party which in 2013 elections gained maximum ground during its debut elections.
Sources also said that after the polls in Delhi will be conducted, BJP and PDP would join hands to form the next government in Jammu and Kashmir.
PDP emerged as a single largest party in JK during the state elections of 2014 in which it bagged 28 out of 87 assembly seats. BJP was the second largest with 25 seats in its kitty. NC had 15 seats with Congress coming out with 12 assembly segments. Other independents including PC chairman Sajad Gani lone had 7 seats across the state of Jammu and Kashmir.
