Family of the Parliament attack convict Muhammd Afzal Guru who was hanged at Delhi’s Tihar Jail on Saturday last; have decided to read the contents of his last letter addressed to his family in front of media persons.
Ajaz Ahmad guru brother of Afzal Saturday told KNS that they will read the last letter of Afzal Guru in front of media within a day as they wanted the Kashmiri brethren ‘who have expressed immense solidarity with us’ to hear Afzal’s last words. Afzal had written a letter to his family addressed to his wife Tabassum, hours before he was sent to gallows in the 2001 parliament attack case.
The family accused the state authorities of imposing restrictions on their movement.
“Even after pushing us through such a pain, the authorities are not satisfied. We are being continuously kept under house arrest”, Ajaz alleged.
“No neighbor, no relative is allowed to visit our home in this hour of pain. They don’t let anybody to come and console us. We are under complete siege there is no one available to share our grief”, he added.
“The state government has shown its ugliest face by not realizing our suffering .On one hand the shameless, criminal and so called Democratic country has snatched my innocent brother through a conspiracy and on the other hand this autocratic state government has made us prisoners in our own house. God knows when our misers will end”, he lamented.
An outraged Ajaz while castigating Indian media said that they never expected the media ‘which is considered to be the only support for a poor helpless victim to behave in such a cruel and biased manner. Ajaz further said the criminal silence of all the civil voices particularly the Indian media has shown their real faces. “India or its media hardly cares for our suffering. The only thing which Indian media is busy with is the spreading of baseless rumours”, he said.
While revealing their legal course of action Ajaz said that they have already forwarded their application to the government for the return of body of Afzal. “But no response has been received from the other side till now”.
When contacted MoS Home Sajad Ahmad Kichloo claimed that the government had imposed no restrictions on the family or visitors. “Police is deployed there only to prevent any untoward incident”, he added. (KNS)
