Terming the incident of violence in Rajouri’s Baba Ghulam Shah Badshah University (BGSBU) as unfortunate, a spokesperson of the All Parties Hurriyat Conference (m) Wednesday said it was the responsibility of the university administration to protect students from harms’ way and also stop admitting “communal and extremist” elements on the varsity campus so that students feeling insure get a sense of security.

Terming the clashes among the students in the varsity as a cause of concern, the spokesperson urged students from Kashmir valley, and other areas of Jammu Kashmir to live peacefully with love and brotherhood and focus their attention and energies on studies instead of vitiating an atmosphere of brotherhood.

Meanwhile, terming the curbs imposed by the state administration on its Chairperson, Mirwaiz Umar Farooq, who has been placed under house arrest for the past more than a week now, as inhuman, unjustified and undemocratic, the spokesperson said that Mirwaiz was being stopped from performing his religious, social and political obligations.

Pointing out that by placing such severe restrictions on the movement of its Chairperson, the spokesperson said the government had made clear its policies of aggression against him.

Stressing that the government was trying to stifle the voice of the “resistance” leadership by using excessive force and thereby choking their Right to Freedom of Expression, the spokesperson said people were being victimized by aggression and violence carried by the state which was not only a violations of human rights but also an example of political vendetta.

The spokesperson also condemned the continued house confinement of the APHC Media Adviser, Advocate Shahid-ul-Islam.
