SRINAGAR: The Government of India has declared a one-day national mourning on July 13, 2026, following the death of His Highness Sheikh Hamad bin Khalifa Al-Thani, Father Amir of the State of Qatar, who passed away on Sunday.
According to an official announcement, the National Flag will be flown at half-mast across India on all buildings where it is regularly displayed. There will also be no official entertainment on the day of mourning.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi expressed condolences on the passing of the Father Amir, describing him as a visionary leader who guided Qatar to remarkable development and prosperity and remained a true friend of India.
The Government of India has also announced that Kiren Rijiju, Union Minister for Parliamentary Affairs and Minority Affairs, is expected to visit Qatar shortly to convey condolences on behalf of the Government of India to the State of Qatar.
The one-day national mourning has been declared as a mark of respect for the late Father Amir and reflects India’s tribute to his contributions and longstanding ties with the country.
