India is in the process of negotiating Free Trade Agreements (FTAs) with key nations including the United Kingdom, the European Union, Oman, Australia, Peru, and Sri Lanka. Additionally, India is reviewing its existing FTAs with South Korea and ASEAN nations to enhance economic partnerships further. The government has also proposed new bilateral agreements focused on advancing Science and Technology (S&T) collaborations with several neighbouring countries, with a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Nepal already in the works.

India’s influence is not confined to bilateral agreements, as it continues to make significant strides on the global stage. Under its G20 Presidency, India helped secure the Green Development Pact, committing to sustainable development and climate action. Furthermore, India’s participation in the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) and the Leadership Group for Industry Transition (LeadIT) highlights its leadership in climate change, promoting decarbonization across heavy industries.

In the realm of counter-terrorism, India has been at the forefront of addressing global threats, hosting the 3rd No Money for Terror Ministerial Conference in New Delhi in 2022. The country has also been instrumental in advocating for global cooperation in countering terror financing and emerging security challenges, further reinforcing its international security partnerships.

India’s involvement in global public health efforts is equally impactful. At forums like the G20, UNGA, and G7, India has championed issues ranging from digital health to tackling antimicrobial resistance, emphasizing the importance of collaborative solutions to global health challenges.

The government has also enhanced its engagement with BRICS and ASEAN, strengthening ties through multiple bilateral and multilateral meetings. Notably, the ASEAN-India partnership was elevated to the status of a Comprehensive Strategic Partnership in 2022, marking a significant milestone in regional cooperation.
