SRINAGAR: Israeli media on Tuesday reported that the Israel Defense Forces (IDF) carried out fresh strikes in Iran, targeting Iran’s security chief Ali Larijani, though it was not immediately clear whether he was killed or injured. Reuters reported that there has been no official response from Tehran so far.

According to Israeli media, “the military has targeted Iran’s security chief Ali Larijani,” while adding that his condition remains unconfirmed. The reports reiterated that no statement has been issued by Iranian authorities.
Separately, The Times of Israel, quoting Israeli Defence Minister Israel Katz, reported that Larijani was killed in an Israeli airstrike in Iran the previous night, although this claim has not been independently verified.
The IDF confirmed that Larijani was among those targeted in the strikes.
The reports further said that another Israeli airstrike targeted Akram al-Ajouri, a senior leader of the Palestinian Islamic Jihad, along with other top members of the group, citing defence sources.
IDF Chief of Staff Lt Gen Eyal Zamir appeared to confirm aspects of the operation. During a morning assessment, he said that “significant elimination achievements were also recorded overnight, with the potential to impact the campaign’s achievements and the IDF’s missions.”
“This is in addition to eliminations carried out in recent days in Iran against external elements, also linked to the Palestinian arena,” he said.
Zamir added that “senior operatives involved in terrorist activity from Gaza and from Judea and Samaria (West Bank)” were reportedly hiding in a safe house in Tehran when they were targeted.
