Jammu and Kashmir unionists stress for including Hurriyat in dialogue to make it result oriented

The Government of India’s special representative on Jammu and Kashmir Dineshwar Sharma had a comparatively busy day on Wednesday as he came out of his high-security Hari Niwas Guest House on the banks of Dal Lake and met several unionists.

Almost all the unionist leaders who met Sharma stressed the need for engaging all stakeholders including Hurriyat Conference in the dialogue process and make the current process of dialogue a result-oriented one.

Coming out of high security guest house, Sharma took a bold step and met former chief minister and working president of main opposition national conference Omer Abdullah in his nearby house who in an upright manner told Sharma that the Centre was responsible for the cold response he received during his current visit.

“I hope that the misunderstandings that were created by Centre about Sharma’s mission and that his status was undermined particularly from PMO office”, Omar told reporters after meeting Sharma.

He said home ministry would be required to rectify the mistakes and the roadblocks that were created by Centre in the mission of Sharma would be cleared. If that happens – i think this time less people met him – i hope next time more people would be ready to meet Sharma “but the responsibility lies on Centre. Till now, the Centre instead of making task of Sharma easy has made it difficult.” he added.

Breaking a long silence, Sharma met reporters briefly and expressed confidence that he would try his best to meet Hurriyat conference.
