SRINAGAR: In a significant move against drug trafficking, the Jammu and Kashmir Police in Shopian have attached a double-storey residential house valued at Rs 14.76 lakhs and cash amounting to Rs 6 lakhs belonging to a known drug peddler, Farooq Ahmad Koka, a resident of Melhura Zainapora. The action carried out under sections 68-E and 68-F(1) of the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act, 1985, is part of the district’s ongoing anti-narcotics drive.
The attachment, linked to FIR No. 36/2024 registered at Police Station Zainapora, was executed in the presence of a constituted police team and the Executive Magistrate to ensure strict adherence to legal protocols. During the investigation, the property was identified as being acquired through the proceeds of illicit drug trafficking.
This initiative reflects the unwavering commitment of the Shopian Police to curb the drug menace in the district. Local residents have praised the authorities for their decisive action, viewing it as a strong deterrent to those engaged in the illegal narcotics trade.
