Between 2020-21 and 2024-25, the fund has been used in Jammu and Kashmir to strengthen women’s helplines, set up and improve One Stop Centres, and bolster emergency response mechanisms tailored to local needs. These interventions aim to ensure timely access to support, protection, and redressal for women across the region.

Nationally, the Nirbhaya Fund has seen significant allocations, including Rs 1,355.23 crore in 2020-21 and Rs 500 crore annually from 2021-22 to 2024-25. It has funded a broad spectrum of initiatives, such as the Emergency Response Support System, Cyber Crime Prevention against Women and Children, Safe City projects in eight major cities, installation of vehicle tracking platforms and CCTVs, and construction of Working Women Hostels in states including Nagaland, Punjab, Tamil Nadu, and Uttarakhand. Awareness and capacity-building programmes like Mission Shakti have also been supported to empower women in industrial sectors.

For Jammu and Kashmir, the Rs 57.3 crore allocation ensures that region-specific safety challenges are addressed while aligning with the national framework for women’s security, combining preventive measures, digital monitoring, and support infrastructure for rapid response and protection of women and girls.
