J&K Bank Monday  organised a one-day health camp at Gund, Kangan and a blood donation camp at Udhampur on Sunday.

While more than 300 patients were examined and treated by a group of specialist doctors from SKIMS at Gund, around thirty bank employees donated blood at the Udhampur blood donation camp. The camps were part of “health for all” series launched by the Bank as part of its special Platinum Jubilee Corporate Social Responsibility initiatives.

O.P Sharma, Bank’s Executive President inaugurated the Gund health camp amid impressive gathering and public applause. Abdul Hamid Khan, Bank’s Cluster Head for Ganderbal was also present on the occasion.

Interacting with the patients, Sharma described the “Health for all” series as “a modest effort by the Bank to take specialist health consultations at the doorsteps of remote and under-privileged sections”.

Urging locals to take full advantage of the camp, Sharma said, “The idea behind organising such camps is to ensure a better, healthier tomorrow for you”.

“Though J&K Bank is primarily a commercial organization but societal concerns especially health have always remained our top priority”, he added.

The neatly organized specialized check-up counters witnessed heavy rush as around three hundred patients, mostly elders from Gund, its adjacent villages and some hard-to-access hamlets surrounding Gund, were medically examined and treated.

The camp was organized in collaboration with SKIMS, Soura. The team of specialists from SKIMS included reputed gastroentrologist Dr. G N Yattoo and renowned Cardiologist Dr. Mohammad Sultan.

Patients appreciated on-the-spot clinical testing and ECG facilities, the support for which was provided by Trans World Muslim University Diagnostic Centre.

Meanwhile, a Blood Donation Camp, in collaboration with District Hospital, Udhampur, was organized by the Bank on June 22, 2013 in which more than 30 employees of the bank donated blood.

Speaking on the occasion, Dr. Chander Parkash informed the gathering that June-2013 is being celebrated as the World Blood Donor Month. He appreciated the role of J & K bank in taking such initiative.

Bank’s Cluster Head for Udhampur, Iqbal Singh described the initiative as a reflection of Bank’s sense of commitment to public. He shared with the gathering the other initiatives taken by the J &K bank as part of its platinum jubilee celebrations.

“J&K bank has always remained at the forefront in bringing comfort to the people and as a step ahead in this direction, bank has decided to open an ATM at the premises of district hospital shortly. Besides, we are planning to open four new branches and four new ATMs in Udhampur district in the coming weeks” he added.
