SRINAGAR: The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) has taken decisive action against schools across the country, including one in Jammu and Kashmir.

Kartar Public School in Kathua, Jammu and Kashmir, was among the 20 schools disaffiliated due to discrepancies found during surprise inspections.

The move follows revelations of malpractices such as presenting dummy students and failing to adhere to affiliation and examination norms.

CBSE Secretary Himanshu Gupta revealed surprise inspections uncovered violations in affiliation and examination norms.

Among the schools, five are in Delhi, others scattered across Uttar Pradesh, Kerala, Rajasthan, Chhattisgarh, Maharashtra, Jammu and Kashmir, Dehradun, Assam, and Madhya Pradesh. Furthermore, schools in Delhi, Punjab, and Assam faced affiliation downgrades.

CBSE’s action followed the discovery of malpractices like presenting dummy students, ineligible candidates, and poor record-keeping.The board’s decision to disaffiliate and downgrade schools followed a thorough investigation.
