As per an official notification, the counselling process will take place on January 24, 2026 (Saturday). Candidates are required to report between 10:00 am and 11:00 am at the JKBOPEE offices in Jammu and Srinagar.
The move follows directions issued by the Health and Medical Education Department, Civil Secretariat, Jammu and Kashmir, on January 21, 2026, as well as instructions from the Medical Assessment and Rating Board (MARB) of the National Medical Commission (NMC).
The 50 supernumerary MBBS seats have been apportioned among seven newly established Government Medical Colleges in the UT. These include GMC Anantnag with eight seats, while GMC Baramulla, Doda, Handwara, Kathua, Rajouri and Udhampur have been allotted seven seats each.
JKBOPEE said the counselling is meant exclusively for candidates who were provisionally allotted MBBS seats at SMVDIME Katra during various counselling rounds conducted in 2025, and whose names appear in the annexure attached to the notification.
The Board stated that seat allocation will be carried out strictly according to NEET-UG merit and the preferences submitted by candidates for the respective Government Medical Colleges.
Candidates have been instructed to attend the counselling in person for registration and verification, carrying all original documents, including domicile certificate, qualifying examination mark sheets and proof of admission fee payment.
In cases where a candidate is unable to appear personally due to unavoidable reasons, representation through a close blood relative will be permitted, subject to submission of the prescribed authorisation form along with valid identity documents.
The notification has been issued under the signature of Prof Gurvinder Raj Verma, Controller of Examinations, JKBOPEE, and has been circulated to senior government authorities, including the offices of the Lieutenant Governor, Chief Secretary, Health and Medical Education Department and the National Medical Commission for information and further action.
