SRINAGAR: A delegation from the Jammu and Kashmir Mechanical Engineering Graduates Association (JKMEGA) met with the Hon’ble Deputy Chief Minister of JK, Shri Surinder Kumar Choudhary, in Srinagar.
The delegation, led by JKMEGA President Firdous Ahad Bhat, extended their congratulations to the Hon’ble Deputy Chief Minister on his recent election, expressing full support for his vision to enhance and sustain the engineering sector across Jammu and Kashmir.
During the meeting, JKMEGA submitted a memorandum highlighting key concerns and proposed reforms. While acknowledging the significant progress made in the PWD (R&B) department, the memorandum emphasised the urgent need to implement Assured Career Progression (ACP) for the engineering fraternity and expand the role of Mechanical Engineering in the Jal Shakti Department to improve project delivery and operational efficiency across the Union Territory. The meeting also emphasised to address issues such as filling vacant posts, resolving pending regularisation cases, issuing a schedule of rates for mechanical works, and safeguarding the dignity of engineers while they perform critical public assignments.
The Hon’ble Deputy Chief Minister assured the delegation of his full cooperation and early resolution of the highlighted issues.
The delegation expressed their gratitude to the Hon’ble Deputy Chief Minister for taking the time to listen to their concerns and providing assurances for prompt action. Other members in attendance included Shuja Hussain Qureshi, Mudasir Ahamed Shah, Rayees Maqbool Masodi, Shahid Latief Mir, Vijay Kumar Pandita, and Sajad Nakeeb (Chief Engineer, R&B Central), alongside other notable officers from R&B Kashmir.
