A complete shutdown is being observed in Kashmir valley on the third consecutive day, today, against the killings in Kashmir.

All the shops, business establishments, government and private offices remained mostly closed.  Private transport, however, moved in uptown and outskirts in Srinagar.

Heavy deployment of government forces has been made in Srinagar and other sensitive places in the Kashmir Valley to “maintain peace and law and order.”

The authorities decided to close all educational institutions and postpone exams scheduled for Wednesday as tension continued in the Kashmir Valley.

Joint Resistance Leadership (JRL) comprising Syed Ali Geelani, Mirwaiz Umer Farooq and Muhammad Yasin Malik have announced a march to Shopian town to express solidarity with the people of the district where 13 militants and 4 civilians were killed by government forces on April 1, (Sunday).

Geelani and Mirwaiz have been placed under house arrest while Malik has been lodged in Srinagar central jail. Tehreek-e-Hurriyat chairman, Mohammad Ashraf Sehrai has also been placed under house arrest.

All the educational institutions remained closed, and exams were postponed on the third straight day, today, while Kashmir train services also remained suspended.
