Kashmir Sees Above-Normal Day Temperatures; Srinagar Records 33°C

   

SRINAGAR: Several areas across Kashmir recorded above-normal maximum temperatures today, with Srinagar registering a high of 33.0°C, which is 3.8°C above the seasonal average, according to data compiled by Kashmir Weather.

Other parts of the Valley also witnessed warmer-than-usual conditions. Qazigund saw a high of 31.4°C, 4.0°C above normal, while Kokernag recorded 30.8°C, 3.6°C higher than the average. Kupwara too experienced elevated temperatures at 32.6°C, 2.9°C above normal.

In the tourist hubs of Gulmarg and Pahalgam, the temperatures remained more tolerable. Gulmarg registered 23.0°C (3.0°C above normal), while Pahalgam recorded a maximum of 24.0°C, slightly below normal by 0.8°C.

In the Jammu region, maximum temperatures were largely within or below normal range. Jammu city remained relatively cooler at 33.4°C, which is 4.2°C below normal. Katra recorded 32.4°C (2.4°C below normal), Banihal 29.2°C (0.1°C above normal), Batote 28.2°C (0.1°C below normal), and Bhaderwah 30.2°C (0.3°C below normal).

In the Union Territory of Ladakh, Leh and Kargil reported maximum temperatures of 26.2°C and 28.6°C respectively.

While the heat remains bearable in the upper reaches, weather experts have advised caution as above-normal temperatures continue across many regions of the Valley. The Meteorological Department has forecast partly cloudy skies with a possibility of rain or thundershowers over the coming days.
