J&K government has imposed severe restrictions in Valley as curfew enters 13th day on Thursday.

Reports coming from across valley said that deputy commissioners have asked law enforcing agencies to implement severe restrictions to “avoid law and order issues”.

Kashmir is witnessing renewed uprising since popular militant commander Burhan Wani was killed along with his two associates in Kokernag area of South Kashmir on July 08 evening coinciding with third Eid-ul-Fitr.

At least 47 civilians have been killed by government forces during protests against the establishment. Thousands are injured due to bullets and pellets and hundreds are lying in hospital beds.

Local reports coming from home town of slain Burhan Wani said that forces have taken over the area. “There has been huge deployment of forces in the area and people have been asked to stay put inside their homes,” a local said.

Similarly, reports coming from Saffron town Pampore said that police and CRPF are personnel are manning while announcements have been made that curfew is in place in the area.

Correspondent reports from Islamabad district said that there has been minor movement of people in the main town, however, there is intense huge deployment of forces.

“There is strict curfew in peripheral areas,” the reports said, “youths have blocked roads at various places.”

The reports said that people were seen walking in main town but majority of movement was in the vicinity of district hospital.

“Announcement were made on loudspeakers by police that there is no deal in curfew,” local reporters said.

Cellular phone and mobile network is snapped across Kashmir as the mass protests spread to towns and villages. Only Union government backed BSNL is working and that too in select areas.

Given the tough situation Journalists are facing, it has not been possible to report in detail the situation in other South Kashmir areas.

Government modified its one of the orders directing school education department to reopen school in at least four districts of valley today including Budgam, Ganderbal, Bandipora and Baramaulla. However, there has been report yet as what happened to such a directive because of the curfew in place in various areas.

The North Kashmir reporter told KL newsroom that strict curfew is in place in Sopore and other major towns of the area.

“People are staying put inside their homes,” the reports said. “However, there was some sort of movement of civilians in and around New Colony Sopore but later that too has come to standstill.”

Our correspondent reports from Shopian said that there has been calm in the town and “there are rumours that there will be deal in curfew in the afternoon”.

Joint separatist Hurriyat Conference has extended the strike call up to Monday while people have been given deal in strike today after 2 PM. Syed Ali Geelani, Mirwaiz Umar Farooq and Mohammad Yasin Malik in a joint statement asked people to store essential items during this deal.
