SRINAGAR: The Kashmir Traders and Manufacturers Federation (KTMF) has expressed deep shock and condemnation over the brutal murder of a tribal woman in Srinagar, allegedly at the hands of four local youths. The Federation described the incident as a “crime against humanity” and called for the culprits to be handed the strictest possible punishment, including capital punishment.

In a strongly worded statement issued on Monday, KTMF President Mohammad Yaseen Khan termed the killing as a reflection of growing moral decay in society. “This barbaric act has shocked the conscience of the entire society. Such brutality must not go unpunished,” Khan said. “The culprits must be dealt with sternly and hanged for committing this shameful crime.”
The KTMF extended its condolences to the bereaved family and the broader tribal community, assuring them of full support and solidarity during what it called a “collective moment of grief and outrage.” Khan further demanded that authorities fast-track the investigation and deliver justice without delay or leniency.
“Such heinous acts must not and cannot be tolerated in a civilised society,” he said. “The perpetrators of this shameful crime deserve nothing less than the death penalty. We cannot allow such savagery to find any place in our society.”
The Federation also urged the civil society, religious leaders, and community elders to stand together in defence of vulnerable groups, particularly women and tribal populations. “This is not just about one woman or one community — it is about the safety, dignity, and rights of every citizen, especially the marginalised,” Khan said.
Calling on the administration to act decisively, KTMF said the business community in Kashmir stands united in demanding swift and exemplary justice to send a strong message of zero tolerance towards such crimes.
