SRINAGAR: Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha on Friday met the families of the martyrs of the Nowgam accidental blast in Srinagar and handed over appointment letters on compassionate grounds, reaffirming the administration’s commitment to the bereaved families.
Paying homage to the martyrs, the Lieutenant Governor expressed gratitude to their families and stated that the nation stands united with them to ensure a life of comfort and dignity.
Sinha lauded the Jammu and Kashmir Police for their recent success in dismantling a terror network, describing the force’s investigation as meticulous and multi-faceted in detecting, disrupting, and preventing terrorist activities. He also instructed senior officials to intensify efforts to disrupt terrorist financing channels and counter radicalisation attempts by certain separatist elements.
The event was attended by senior officials including Special DG Coordination PHQ S.J.M. Gillani, Principal Secretary Home Chandraker Bharti, ADGP CID Nitish Kumar, Principal Secretary to the Lieutenant Governor Mandeep K. Bhandari, Divisional Commissioner Kashmir Anshul Garg, IGP Kashmir Shri VK Birdi, DIG CKR Shri Rajiv Pandey, SSP Srinagar GV Sundeep Chakravarthy, Deputy Commissioner Srinagar Akshay Labroo, along with other senior police and civil administration officials.
The compassionate appointments and security directives come amid ongoing efforts by the JK administration to provide welfare to victims’ families while maintaining stringent measures against terror activities in the region.
Nine people were killed and 32 others injured when a large stockpile of confiscated explosives stored at a police station in Nowgam, Srinagar, detonated on 14 November.
