SRINAGAR: Ahead of the 38-day Amarnath Yatra scheduled to commence on July 3, Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha on Friday chaired a high-level meeting at Raj Bhawan to review the preparedness for the annual pilgrimage.

“The meeting discussed security arrangements and other logistical preparations to ensure the smooth conduct of the Yatra. LG Sinha directed the security agencies to ensure that all arrangements are finalised well before the pilgrimage begins. Officers briefed the Lieutenant Governor on steps taken to facilitate the Yatra and support the pilgrims,” officials said.
Earlier this week, LG Sinha performed the ‘Pratham Puja’ at the Amarnath cave shrine, located in the Himalayas, marking the ceremonial beginning of this year’s Yatra. He assured that comprehensive security arrangements have been made and urged devotees to participate in large numbers.
“The Pratham Puja was completed. I request devotees to come in large numbers for the Yatra, which will begin on July 3 and conclude on Raksha Bandhan, August 9,” LG Sinha said. “I urge all devotees of Baba Barfani to join the Holy Yatra and pray to Mahadev for the progress of Jammu and Kashmir and the nation.”
The meeting was attended by senior officers from the Army, paramilitary forces, and Police, including Director General of Police Nalin Prabhat, Chief Secretary Atal Dulloo, Divisional Commissioner Kashmir V. K. Bidhuri, and other top administrative officials. (KNO)
