SRINAGAR: A day after his Baltal visit, Jammu and Kashmir Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha undertook a visit to the Nunwan and Chandanwari base camps where he interacted with pilgrims, service providers, and the administrative and security officials assigned to the Amarnath Ji Yatra.
Taking stock of the preparations, the Lt Governor instructed all relevant departments to take every possible measure to ensure a smooth, safe, and hassle-free pilgrimage for devotees participating in the Amarnath Ji Yatra.
Highlighting the significance of the annual pilgrimage, the Lt Governor emphasized its contribution to Jammu and Kashmir’s composite culture over several centuries. He stated that the pilgrimage serves as an opportunity to showcase the region’s priceless culture and its historic transformation.
The Lt Governor further emphasized that the yatra brings together people from various backgrounds and states, promoting brotherhood and offering a path to spiritual salvation. He urged everyone to embrace principles of equality, compassion, and humanism inspired by the pilgrimage.
Recognizing the attention of the world on Jammu and Kashmir during the annual yatra, the Lt Governor called for the cooperation of all authorities involved in providing a warm welcome and a memorable experience to the pilgrims.
In order to ensure the smooth conduct of the pilgrimage and facilitate the movement of both pilgrims and locals, the Lt Governor directed stakeholders to coordinate closely and manage the cutoff timings effectively. He also discussed the deployment of trained manpower who had previously contributed to the successful G20 summit held in Srinagar.
During his visit to the DRDO hospital, the Lt Governor interacted with doctors and the medical team, instructing them to ensure round-the-clock healthcare facilities for the yatra participants.
The Lt Governor also assessed the various services provided to the pilgrims, including lodging, Langar (community kitchen), power and water supply, sanitation, and healthcare.
Syeed Fakhrudin Hamid, Deputy Commissioner of Anantnag, briefed the Lt Governor on the arrival status of the yatris (pilgrims) at the Base Camp.
