Amid the complete shutdown in the poll-bound areas of Kashmir, the polling started on Thursday morning in two Lok Sabha constituencies.

The polling percentage at 11 am for Srinagar Parliamentary constituency bound areas stood at 6.1% with Ganderbal registering the highest turnout of 6.5% followed by Budgam at 6.4% and Srinagar registered 2.3%.

In Udhampur Parliamentary Constituency Reasi district recorded 28.8%, Kathua 28.5%, Udhampur district recorded 28.7%, Ramban 19.5%, Doda 28.6% and Kishtwar district recorded 23.6% polling till 11 am.

Officials said that the overall poll percentage in the state is 17.8 % up to 11.00 a.m.

The Srinagar Parliamentary constituency is spread over 15 Assembly segments comprising three districts of Central Kashmir-Ganderbal, Srinagar and Budgam with 1,295,304 registered voters including 1,294,560 General voters and 744 service voters.

The authorities have set up 1716 polling stations across the Parliamentary constituency to facilitate the polling.

Meanwhile, a complete shutdown is being observed in polling bound areas of the valley.
