Mutahida Majlise Mashawrat (MMM), a joint council of various separatist bodies, Friday reiterated its call for launching a campaign on social media for demanding return of mortal remains of Afzal Guru and Maqbool Bhat.
In a statement issued today, the Majlis asked all Kashmiris and other justice loving people to upload photographs of Guru and Bhat as their profile pictures on social media sites.
According to the programme, people will use “Martyr’s are beckoning you not to forget their sacrifice” and other pro-resistance slogans as their status on various social media websites.
“By way of such a protest, it will be conveyed to the whole world that that Shaheed Afzal Guru was murdered in Delhi’s Tihar Jail in a brutal and unjust manner while his family was not even allowed to see him for one last time. It will convey that even after being murdered, that the bodies of Guru and Bhat have been kept under detention and that their bodies were not handed over to the heirs”, the spokesman of MMM said in a statement issued here.
The Majlis while denouncing the restrictions and curfew on movement said the people were not even allowed to offer congregational Friday prayers.
“Authorities are trying to suppress the voices of people across valley by imposing strict curfew and committing atrocities on people. Such tactics were employed in 2008, 2009 and 2010 but failed to muzzle the sentiments of people”, the spokesman said adding the tactics will continue to fail.
