SRINAGAR: In Reasi district of Jammu and Kashmir, two Muslims offered their land to aid accessibility to a 500-year-old Hindu temple.
Gulam Rasool and Gulam Mohammad, residents of Kheral panchayat, donated four kanals of land to construct a 1200-meter road for the Gupt Kashi – Gouri Shankar temple in Kansi Patta village.
This road, funded by the panchayat, is estimated to cost over one crore rupees.
Gulam Rasool, a former panchayat member and farmer, highlighted attempts to sow discord over the temple’s lack of a proper road. He emphasized the necessity of unity in addressing communal issues.
To foster communal harmony, a meeting was convened among panchayat members and revenue officials. During this gathering, Gulam Rasool and Gulam Mohammad consented to allocate portions of their land for the road.
Simultaneously, efforts are underway to renovate the temple, which also owns additional land in the vicinity. The matter concerning land allocation has been escalated to the District Development Commissioner in Reasi.
