SRINAGAR: President of the Jammu and Kashmir National Conference and former Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Farooq Abdullah on Tuesday visited the Embassy of Iran in New Delhi to sign the condolence book and express grief over the assassination of Iran’s Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei.
During the visit, Abdullah conveyed his sympathies and condolences to the leadership and people of Iran on behalf of the people of Jammu and Kashmir. He described the killing of Khamenei as a moment of profound sorrow for the Iranian nation.
Abdullah was accompanied by Members of Parliament from the National Conference — Choudhry Mohammad Ramzan, Sajjad Ahmed Kichloo and Gurwinder Singh Oberoi.
The delegation also met the Deputy Ambassador of Iran to India and expressed solidarity with the people of Iran during what they described as a difficult and tragic moment for the country. They offered prayers for eternal peace for the departed leader and strength for the Iranian nation.
Over the past three days, several political and public figures have visited the Iranian Embassy in New Delhi to offer condolences and sign the condolence register following the assassination, expressing solidarity with the people and leadership of Iran.
