SRINAGAR: According to the latest trends on the Election Commission’s website, the ruling NDA was leading in 47 assembly seats, while the opposition INDIA bloc held an advantage in 14 constituencies.
Among the NDA partners, the BJP was ahead in 25 seats, JD(U) in 16, and LJP (Ram Vilas) in five. On the opposition side, the RJD was leading in 10 seats and the Congress in three. The Plurals Party and the Hindustani Awam Morcha (Secular) each held a lead in one seat.
Vote counting was underway on Friday for all 243 constituencies.
In Mokama, JD(U)’s Anant Kumar Singh was ahead by 2,716 votes over RJD’s Veena Devi after the first round of counting.
RJD candidate Rit Lal Roy, who contested the election from prison, held a lead of 7,936 votes in Danapur, with BJP’s Ram Kripal Yadav trailing.
In Bankipur, BJP’s Nitin Nabin was leading by 2,043 votes, while RJD’s Rekha Kumari was behind. In Paliganj, CPIM(L) Liberation’s Sandeep Saurav maintained a lead of 241 votes, with LJP (Ram Vilas) candidate Sunil Kumar trailing.
