The accused, identified as Aejaz Ahmad Tantray, son of Manzoor Ahmad Tantray and a resident of Kapran Verinag presently residing at Prakeshpora Anchidoora in Anantnag, is facing charges in connection with FIR No. 49/2026 registered under Sections 8/21 of the NDPS Act at Police Station Dooru.

Officials said the electronic monitoring device was installed in compliance with directions issued by the court as a mandatory condition for bail. The GPS-enabled anklet will allow authorities to continuously monitor the accused’s movements and ensure adherence to bail conditions.

A GPS tracking anklet is a wearable electronic device secured around the ankle that enables real-time location tracking of an accused person and helps enforce restrictions imposed by the court.

Police said the move marks the use of modern surveillance technology in monitoring individuals accused in narcotics-related offences. Officials added that the initiative is aimed at strengthening oversight of habitual drug offenders and ensuring accountability while the accused remains out on bail pending trial.
