SRINAGAR: The National Investigation Agency (NIA) on Monday filed a supplementary chargesheet against Pakistan-based Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT) founder Hafiz Saeed in connection with the April 2025 Pahalgam attack that claimed 26 lives.
The chargesheet was filed before the NIA Special Court in Jammu, naming Saeed in his individual capacity as well as the head of the banned LeT and its proxy outfit, The Resistance Front (TRF), the agency said.
According to the NIA, Saeed has been charged under relevant sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), 2023, and the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act (UAPA), 1967. The agency has also invoked provisions related to waging war against India and allegedly hatching a conspiracy from across the border.
The supplementary chargesheet, filed in continuation of the original 1,597-page chargesheet, contains details of the alleged Pakistan-based conspiracy, Saeed’s role, and evidence gathered during the investigation through forensic, technical and field examinations, officials said.
In its first chargesheet filed on December 15, 2025, the NIA had named Pakistani handler Sajid Jatt, three others who were killed during Operation Mahadev in July 2025, and two arrested accused. The agency had also chargesheeted the banned LeT/TRF organisation as a legal entity for its alleged role in planning, facilitating and carrying out the attack.
The attack took place in Pahalgam area of south Kashmir’s Anantnag district on April 22, 2025, when terrorists targeted civilians, killing 25 tourists and one local resident.
The case was initially registered at Police Station Pahalgam before being handed over to the NIA by the Ministry of Home Affairs.
The agency said further investigation in the case is continuing to uncover the wider conspiracy behind the attack.
