SRINAGAR: Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha on Saturday said that security agencies are intensifying operations against drug trafficking and narco-terror networks in Jammu and Kashmir, asserting that there will be “no safe haven” for smugglers, peddlers, or terror financiers.
Addressing a public rally in Kishtwar, Sinha said the ongoing anti-drug campaign has covered 19 districts over the past two months, with widespread public participation across the Union Territory. He said citizens have joined outreach efforts, shared the experiences of affected families, and helped raise awareness among young people.
He stated that agencies are targeting and dismantling drug networks in a sustained manner, describing the effort as a mission to eliminate narco-terrorism and protect the youth from addiction and exploitation.
Sinha said that over the past 56 days, he has been focused on a single objective of eradicating drug trafficking networks, warning that those involved in narcotics trade “will not be spared”, regardless of their location in the Union Territory.
He added that while individuals struggling with addiction will be supported through rehabilitation and reintegration, strict action will continue against those profiting from the drug trade. “Compassion is for those seeking recovery, not for those who destroy lives,” he said.
The Lieutenant Governor said the 100-day Drug-Free Campaign marks the beginning of a longer, sustained effort requiring a “whole-of-society approach” to eliminate drug networks from both rural and urban areas.
He further said that community participation is central to the initiative, with teachers, Panchayat representatives, women’s groups, religious leaders and civil society organisations playing a key role in prevention and awareness at the grassroots level.
Sinha said the campaign aims to build a long-term social resistance against drug abuse, describing it as a defining effort to safeguard the future of youth in Jammu and Kashmir.
