North Kashmir: Police Bust Illegal Drug Network; Two Arrested, Medical Establishments Sealed

   

SRINAGAR: Jammu and Kashmir Police in north kashmir’s Baramulla district have arrested two persons and seized psychotropic drugs after unearthing an alleged illegal drug supply network operating through medical establishments in the Pattan area of north Kashmir.

Police said the action was initiated after Police Station Pattan received information alleging that Musadiq Rashid Yatoo, son of Abdul Rashid Yatoo and proprietor of “Musa Medicate” near Trauma Hospital Pattan, was involved in the illegal sale of psychotropic and intoxicating drugs among local youth.

Following the information, police registered FIR No. 108/2026 at Police Station Pattan and launched an investigation.

During the investigation, search warrants were obtained from the court of the Judicial Magistrate First Class (JMIC) Pattan. A raid was subsequently conducted by Police Station Pattan in the presence of an Executive Magistrate First Class, the Drug Control Officer and independent witnesses.

Police said the accused was allegedly caught while illegally selling psychotropic drugs. During the raid, seven strips comprising 105 tablets of Tramadol were recovered and seized, following which the accused was arrested.

During interrogation, the accused allegedly disclosed that the drugs were supplied by Irfan Yousuf, son of Mohammad Yousuf Wani and proprietor of “Wani Pharma Distributor” near Government Degree College (GDC) Pattan.

Police alleged that the distributor was supplying psychotropic drugs without proper billing and legal procedure.

Following the disclosure, police conducted searches at the distributor’s premises near GDC Pattan after obtaining a separate search warrant from the JMIC Court Pattan. The premises were later sealed in the presence of the Executive Magistrate and Drug Control Officer. Simultaneously, the residential house of the accused at Sherpora Bangil was also searched.

During the searches, police recovered 69 strips comprising 690 tablets of Etisoma-0.25 (Etizolam) and 10 strips comprising 100 tablets of Cloprax-B20.

Both accused persons were arrested in the case, while the two medical establishments were sealed by the Drug Control Officer and Executive Magistrate in accordance with legal procedure.

Police also seized two laptops, one tablet, one DVR and two mobile phones belonging to the accused for forensic and technical examination.

Police said further investigation is underway to ascertain backward and forward linkages, identify the supply chain and determine the involvement of other persons connected with the alleged illicit trade in narcotic and intoxicating drugs.
