SRINAGAR: Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Monday said Operation Sindoor reflected India’s values and emotions, adding that he fulfilled his responsibility as the nation’s leader by giving full operational freedom to the armed forces to avenge the April 22 Pahalgam terror attack that claimed the lives of 26 civilians, mostly tourists.
Addressing a public gathering after laying the foundation of development projects worth over Rs 24,000 crore in Dahod, Gujarat, PM Modi declared that India could not have remained silent in the face of such brutality. “Our cultural values demand justice. The terrorists who carried out the Pahalgam attack had no idea what was coming,” he said.
The Prime Minister said nine major terror hubs across the border were destroyed in just 22 minutes. “Pakistan’s military attempted retaliation, but our armed forces delivered a decisive defeat,” he added, saluting their courage and professionalism.
In a veiled reference to Pakistan, PM Modi said that the country born out of partition had always harboured hostility towards India. “While they focus on hate, we focus on eradicating poverty and building a Viksit Bharat,” he remarked.
Modi also reflected on the significance of May 26, the day he first took oath as Prime Minister in 2014, thanking the people of Gujarat for their unwavering support.
