SRINAGAR: The heatwave continued across Jammu and Kashmir on Monday with Srinagar recording a maximum temperature of 31.8 degrees Celsius.
According to the details shared by the Meteorological (MeT) Department, Srinagar, the summer capital of Jammu and Kashmir, recorded 5.8 degrees Celsius above normal temperature.
The details reveal that Qazigund, a gateway of Kashmir, recorded a day temperature of 31.3 degrees Celsius while Kupwara in north Kashmir recorded 30.8 degrees Celsius.
Kokernag recorded 30.8 degrees Celsius while Gulmarg, a famous ski resort, recorded a maximum temperature of 22.8 degrees Celsius.
Further, the Jammu division witnessed a slight improvement on Friday with Jammu City recording a day temperature of 37.5 degrees Celsius.
Banihal, Batote, Katra and Bhaderwah recorded maximum temperatures of 29.1, 27.7, 35.2 and 29.6 degrees Celsius, respectively.
Meanwhile, Director MeT, Dr Mukhtar Ahmad, said that from May 27 to 31, the weather would remain generally hot and dry with the possibility of a brief spell of light rain and thundershower at scattered places. (KNO)
