SRINAGAR: In a major boost to employment prospects in north Kashmir, more than 1,000 vacancies were offered to local youth during a Mega Job Fair held today at the Chinar Yuva Centre in Baramulla, a DIPR JK statement said. Organised jointly by the District Administration Baramulla, the Dagger Division of the Indian Army, and the District Employment and Counselling Centre, the fair brought together 28 companies from sectors including hospitality, automobiles, education, banking and services.
Hundreds of aspirants from across the district participated, with many undergoing on-the-spot interviews and even receiving provisional appointment letters during the event. The initiative not only connected job seekers with private employers but also exposed them to government schemes like MUMKIN, Tejaswini, PMEGP, Mission YUVA, and NRLM aimed at promoting self-employment.
Deputy Commissioner Baramulla Minga Sherpa described the event as a step toward empowering the district’s youth with tangible opportunities and entrepreneurial guidance. “This is more than just recruitment,” he said, “it’s about building confidence and a culture of aspiration.” It was not immediately known how many youth went home with job letters.
