SRINAGAR: A senior Jammu and Kashmir cricket team player is being probed for alleged charges of nepotism and favouritism after a written complaint was filed against him with the Jammu and Kashmir Cricket Association (JKCA).

JKCA Chief Executive Syed Ashiq Hussain Bukhari has now sent a letter to the senior player asking him to explain his stand on the allegations.

“In order to substantiate the contents of the memorandum by providing a reasonable opportunity to you under the rule, you are hereby asked to attend the office of the undersigned on  22-02-2021 at 2 p.m sharp at Jammu so, that your statement can be recorded and further action as warranted under the rule shall be taken into the matter,” the letter reads.

The complaint memorandum states, “Even when a team is being announced, we get to know it when they are to leave for nationals or have already reached the venue. No one is given the list and not even the media.”

The letter alleges that the career of Rasik Salam’s was ruined and halted by this senior player.

“Another example is that when Qamran Iqbal was going well and being part of the under-19 India team, His career was halted by making sure he doesn’t get selected for J&K team. It was only due to his personal rivalry with Qamran’s mentor Majid Dar and in between that he tried to destroy Qamran,” the memorandum states further.

Earlier in a video former Ranji player, Abid Nabi had alleged that “he was not allowed to enter Sher-e-Kashmir stadium.

Further details in the matter are awaited.
