SRINAGAR: Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) leader Waheed Para on Saturday expressed concern over the security arrangements for political leaders in Jammu and Kashmir, alleging that the government is adopting a selective approach.
Speaking to Kashmir Life, Para said that efforts to evict former Chief Minister Mehbooba Mufti from her residence were unjustified, stressing that security in Jammu Kashmir is a non-negotiable necessity. He also condemned the recent attack on National Conference president Farooq Abdullah, asserting that the safety of elected representatives engaged in public service must not be compromised.
Describing such actions as serious, he called for a uniform and consistent policy to ensure the protection of political leaders.
Para further questioned the government over issuing a notice to Sajad Lone and other MLAs to vacate their accommodations, as well as the downgrading of Tariq Hameed Karra’s security, and urged the Chief Minister to clarify the reasoning behind these decisions.
