Speaking after chairing a key organisational meeting in Sopore, Madni said, “Peace is not optional. Jammu and Kashmir bears the greatest cost whenever India and Pakistan face heightened tensions. Only dialogue and peaceful resolution can pave the way forward.”

The meeting, part of the PDP’s ongoing internal review and outreach efforts, brought together senior party leaders including General Secretary Adv Abdul Haq Khan, former ministers Naeem Akhtar and Basharat Bukhari, MLA Mir Mohammad Fayaz, former MLC Yasir Reshi, District Presidents, Zone Presidents, social media in-charge Syed Tajamul, contesting candidates, and grassroots workers.

Madni described the gathering as a routine but important step to “enhance internal coordination, evaluate the party’s standing, and reinvigorate our commitment to the people.” He emphasised that the PDP remains steadfast in its promise to stand with the people “through every situation—good or bad.”

When questioned about the performance of the current administration, Madni replied that it is up to the voters and elected officials to explain the lack of visible development progress, despite being eight months into their term.

Highlighting the contributions of PDP legislators, Madni praised the efforts of the party’s three MLAs, saying, “Despite their small number, they’ve raised their voice on key issues—from Article 370 to the regularisation of daily wagers and land rights. Their voices carry the weight of fifty.”

Addressing the party’s electoral performance, Madni acknowledged recent setbacks but maintained confidence in the PDP’s ability to bounce back. “Success and setbacks are part of the democratic process. We will draw lessons from this outcome and emerge stronger,” he said.

He reiterated PDP’s role as a credible and people-centric political alternative in the region, praising party president Mehbooba Mufti for “speaking truth to power without seeking favour from any government.”

Concluding the session, Madni urged party leaders and workers to stay closely engaged with local communities, respond to public concerns, and intensify grassroots mobilisation to reinforce the PDP’s organisational structure.
