The Jammu and Kashmir Police on Wednesday said that it has identified the person behind Kulgam attack that left seven people dead including 5 JKP personnel.

The identity of the person has been established as Umer Majeed, a Hizbul Mujahideen militant.

It has also announced a cash reward of Rs 10 lakh for information on Umar.

Reports said that posters of Majeed have been pasted on the walls of Kulgam, announcing the cash reward that may lead the security agencies to him.

Police said 22-year-old Majeed, who hails from Soach village of Kulgam district, was identified with the help of some locals as well as the driver of the treasury van that came under attack on May 1 in Kulgam.

Meanwhile, police on Wednesaday said that gunmen behind twin bank loots in Pulwama district have been identified as LeT militants.

“It has come to fore that cash amounting Rs 4.92 lakhs and Rs 1.49 lakhs, respectively has been looted from Elaquai Dehati Bank and JKB,” Supridentant of Police Pulwama said in a statement.

“As per the statements and identification of eye-witnesses Lashker e Toiba terrorists Arif Dar @Rehan @Arif Manager of Lelhar Kakapora, Majid Mir@Abass of Kakapora and Shabir Dar of Aghanzpora, Padgampora have been identified so far as involved in the both the cases,” the officials said.

Police has also announced reward for information of these militants.
