Stating that any forced solution imposed against aspirations of Kashmiri people will not be accepted, the Jama’at-e-Islami Sunday urged upon India and Pakistan to resolve Kashmir issue according to the people’s aspirations.

“Jama’at considers Kashmir issue an international dispute whose resolution should be sought within the relevant resolutions of United Nations or if that is not possible due to any reason, then through tripartite talks with people of the state as the principal party,” general secretary of Jama’at-e-Islami, Dr Abdul Hamid Fayaz, said in a statement to KNS.

He was speaking in Salana Ijtimah (Annual congregation) of Jama’at-e-Islami district Budgam which was held on Sunday at Narbal cricket ground with Ameer-i-Jama’at, Mohammad Abdullah Wani in chair.

“And any forced solution imposed on Kashmiri people against their aspirations will be opposed tooth and nail,” he said adding that Jama’at-e-Islami has sacrificed the most for the resolution of the issue during the ongoing struggle.

“Thousands of people associated with Jama’at were martyred only because they demanded the genuine and internationally recognized right to self-determination for the people of Kashmir,” Fayaz said, while recounted some the prominent figures and frontline leaders of Jama’at who were killed during nineties, especially former ameer Zilla Budgam, Maulana Mohammad Ismael and Ghulam Rasool Dar of Budgam.

While demanding immediate release of all prisoners held in Kashmir and outside jails, Fayaz strongly condemned the house arrest of pro-freedom leaders, particularity Hurriyat (G) chairman, Syed Ali Geelani, who has been detained in his house since past two years and prevented even from offering Friday and Eid prayers.

He also discussed the situation in Egypt, Syria, Bangladesh and other Muslim countries and condemned the bloodshed unleashed against peaceful Islamist forces there.

Earlier, the Ijtimah, which was attended by thousands of persons from across the state, began with the Tilawat-e-Quran at 9:30 am. In his inaugural speech, Ameer-i-Zilla Budgam, Ghulam Mohammad Bhat, threw light in the purpose of holding such Ijtimah’s and also explained the mission and objective of Jama’at-e-Islami.

Dars-e-Quran was delivered by Naib Ameer-i-Jama’at, Nazir Ahmad Raina.

In his Khitaab-e-Khaas (special lecture), Ameer-i-Jama’at, Mohammad Abdullah Wani explained the purpose of life and the mission of man in this universe in the light of Quran and Sunnah.

Three ex-general secretaries of Jama’at including Peer Abdul Rasheed, Ghulam Qadir Wani and Ghulam Qadir Lone answered questions about present situation of Muslim world and Islamic Movement in special program titled “Istefsaar.”
