There was an interesting turn to events today as focus shifted from “revoke bus challan” to removal of staff from Degree College.

“Even DC Ganderbal tried to pacify them (students) but to no avail. There are some unscrupulous elements who are adding fuel to it,” SP Ganderbal, Imtiyaz Ismail Parray told Kashmir Life.

The controversy erupted after an overloaded mini was fined by police station Tulmulla on Wednesday. Afterwards, when the vehicle was released, passengers mostly students of Degree College Ganderbal created “ruckus” in Tawheed Abad Chowk.

However, local sources denied police version saying “many students including girls were beaten”, prompting students to come on roads.

Speaking to Kashmir Life SHO Tulmulla, Mudasir Ahmad, said, “we acted according to law. The bus was overcrowded over with 50 people.”

The SP said that there will be normal classwork from Monday as “there has been loss of college property. The window panes and broken furniture needs to be reinstated”.
