SRINAGAR: The Ministry of Finance has reinstated the Rs 100 crore Capital Expenditure (Capex) budget for the Ladakh Autonomous Hill Development Council (LAHDC), a move that promises to significantly accelerate the region’s development. This restoration is seen as a vital step in addressing Ladakh’s unique seasonal and geographical challenges, ensuring that key infrastructure projects and essential services progress without delay.
The decision underscores the central government’s commitment to Ladakh’s growth, an official spokesman in Leh said. It reflects a strategic focus on enhancing infrastructure, boosting tourism, and improving essential services such as education and healthcare in the region.
With the renewed funding, the LAHDC will be able to expedite critical development projects that directly benefit the residents of Ladakh. The restoration comes as a much-needed assurance for the timely completion of initiatives in a region where harsh winters and limited working seasons often hinder progress.
Advocate Tashi Gyalson, Chairman and Chief Executive Councillor of LAHDC Leh, expressed heartfelt gratitude to the Prime Minister, Home Minister, Finance Minister, and the Lieutenant Governor of Ladakh for their unwavering support. He noted that this decision would have a transformative impact on the lives of people in Ladakh, strengthening the foundation for long-term regional development.
