SC Recommends Justice Tashi Rabstan to Head JK HC

   

SRINAGAR: The Supreme Court of India on Tuesday appointed Chief Justices of High Courts of Delhi, Himachal Pradesh, Jammu & Kashmir and Ladakh, Kerala, Madhya Pradesh and Meghalaya.

“By its resolution dated 11 July 2024, this collegiums had resolved that: Justice Manmohan, Acting Chief Justice of the High Court of Delhi, be appointed as Chief Justice of that High Court;  Justice Rajiv Shakdher, second senior most puisne Judge of the High Court of Delhi, be appointed as Chief Justice of the High Court of Himachal Pradesh in the vacancy caused by the proposal to transfer  Justice M S Ramachandran Rao to the High Court of Jharkhand.

Justice Suresh Kumar Kait, senior puisne Judge of the High Court of Delhi, be appointed as Chief Justice of the High Court of Jammu & Kashmir, and Ladakh.

Justice G S Sandhawalia, senior most psuisne Judge of the High Court of Punjab and Haryana, be appointed as Chief Justice of the High Court of Madhya Pradesh.

Justice Nitin Madhukar Jamdar, senior most puisne Judge of the High Court of Bombay, be appointed as Chief Justice of the High Court of Kerala.

Justice Tashi Rabstan, senior most puisne Judge of the High Court of Jammu and Kashmir and Ladakh, be appointed as Chief Justice of the High Court of Meghalaya on the retirement of the Chief Justice of that High Court on 16 August 2024, and Justice K R Shriram, second senior most puisne Judge of the High Court of Bombay, be appointed as Chief Justice of the High Court of Madras,” the order reads.

The apex court has passed a new resolution making changes to its earlier recommendations for the appointment of Chief Justices of the High Courts.

The Collegium has made changes regarding its earlier recommendations regarding Justice Suresh Kumar Kait(Delhi High Court), Justice G S Sandhawalia(Punjab and Haryana High Court) and Justice Tashi Rabstan (Jammu and Kashmir and Ladakh High Court).

These new recommendations have been made by the Collegium in its resolution passed today (September 17) in supersession of its previous resolution passed on July 11.
