In a mission to revive the industrial sector in Jammu and Kashmir the State of art, Sanat Ghar is coming up at the cost of Rs 27 crore at Bemina, Srinagar and it will be on the pattern of Udhyog Bhawan, Jammu. The Ghar is in advanced stage of completion and would be inaugurated in the month of December, this year. All the departments under the industries and commerce including office chambers of the Minister for Industries and Commerce and its commissioner/Secretary would be housed in this Sanat Ghar under one roof for the convenience of the people especially Industrial units, artisans, business and traders community.SAJAD KICHLOO-8

The information was given by the Minister of State for Industries and Commerce, Sajad Ahmad Kichloo while reviewing performance of the small scale industries Development Corporation (SICOP) here on Wednesday.

As per a statement Kichloo has said the Sanat Ghar complex shall comprise ground plus 4 spacious stories adding that Rs 15 crore stands already incurred on the project.

Kichloo has asked the management of the corporation to fulfill Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) also in addition to providing marketing support to the small scale industrial units. In this regard, he has referred to the recent earthquake victims of the erstwhile district Doda and said all the departments and corporations under industries and commerce should come forward in a big way to provide adequate relief to the affected people. He has said there was a great demand for providing CGI sheets, blankets, plastic water tanks and cement which could be arranged under CSR.

The minister has given a target of highest ever turnover of Rs 1000 crore to the corporation for the current financial year against Rs 922 crore turnover registered during the last fiscal. He has directed the management to focus on earning more net profit which has reached to Rs 1.84 crore during the month of April this fiscal. He has appreciated the management of the corporation, which is one among few profit earning PSUs, for having no statutory liability as on date.

The Managing Director SICOP, RL Tickoo while briefing the meeting about programmes and policies of the corporation has informed that about 2000 modern carpet looms each costing around Rs 50,000 have been manufactured by the corporation during last fiscal as per the approved designs and distributed free of cost among the artisans (handlooms weavers)by the government under Mega Carpet cluster Development Scheme Government of India adding that 6000 more such modernized looms will be manufactured during the current financial year. He gave a detailed information about the 9 industrial estates (I/E) managed by the corporation i.e. I/Es at Gangyal, Kathua, Birpur, Udhampur, Zakura, Zianakote, IID Centre Govindsar Kathua. He said two new industrial projects i.e. Industrial estate at Majalta and Silk Tech Park at Thanamandi Rajouri over 123 Kanals have been sanctioned for which land has already been acquired and are being fenced.

Tickoo also gave detailed information about the product supplied to various government departments by local SSI units through SICOP adding that the corporation has undertaken some new projects to boost the industrial activities in the State.  The Minister stressed upon the SICOP management to complete the all ongoing project within the stipulated time.
